Reminder sensitivity

Reminder sensitivity is the group of settings that decides when DoppiNow speaks up. Sensitivity sets how confident DoppiNow must be that a page is unrelated. The grace period lets a quick glance pass, and "Remind again" spaces out repeat reminders.

How it works

  1. Pick a sensitivity

Gentle reminds only when DoppiNow is very sure (85%). Balanced, the default, uses 70%. Close support starts at 55%.

  2. Give it a moment

A grace period of 10, 20 (default), 30 or 60 seconds lets a quick glance pass.

  3. Remind again

Every 1, 3 (default), 5 or 10 minutes while you stay away, never less than 1 minute apart.

  4. Fair counting

Neutral pages, breaks and time outside Chrome don’t count toward the grace period.

All the details
  1. Sensitivity:

    • Gentle reminds only when DoppiNow is very sure (85%).
    • Balanced (recommended, the default) uses 70%.
    • Close support reminds earlier, from 55%.

Sensitivity also applies to offline word matching. Under Gentle, only the built-in list of usually-distracting sites counts as unrelated.

  2. Give it a moment first (the grace period): 10 seconds, 20 seconds (the default), 30 seconds or 1 minute on an unrelated page before the first reminder.

  3. Remind again: every 1, 3 (the default), 5 or 10 minutes while you stay away. Reminders are always at least 1 minute apart.

  4. Time on neutral pages, on a break or outside Chrome doesn't count toward the grace period. After a break, you start with a fresh grace period.

Why it helps with ADHD

Adults with ADHD report more mind wandering, which the authors call "a common co-occurring feature of adult ADHD" (Mowlem et al. 2019), so a grace period treats a glance as normal. Goal reminders helped people stay on task but were often found annoying (Lyngs et al. 2020). That's why the timing is yours to adjust.

No study has tested DoppiNow itself. DoppiNow is a productivity tool, not a treatment for ADHD.

Reminder sensitivity: common questions

Which sensitivity should I pick?

Balanced is recommended. Pick Gentle if reminders come too often, and Close support if you'd like earlier nudges.

Why didn't a reminder appear right away?

The grace period, 20 seconds by default, lets quick glances pass without interrupting you.
