The Chrome extension
Everything the game needs runs on your device, in your browser's extension storage: your goals, session times, XP, level, streak, badges, quests, a copy of your settings and your recent session log. It stays there until you remove the extension. Resetting your progress clears only the game part (see Your choices and rights).
What may be sent during a focus session
To decide whether the tab you are on relates to your goal, and only if you allow it (see below), the extension may send these details over an encrypted connection to DoppiNow's server, which checks them with a classification service we use:
- the goal you wrote for the session;
- the site name, page type and page address, without query parameters or anything after
#(for a YouTube video, the address keeps the video's ID, so each video can be checked on its own); - the page title and its main heading, if there is one;
- on a search page, what you searched for;
- a channel name and the page's short description, when present.
Smarter page checks are off until you choose. Before your first session, the extension shows a short card explaining what would be sent, and page details go to our server only if you press “Allow page checks”. If you choose “Keep it on this device”, or haven't chosen yet, every check happens in your browser, using your site lists and simple word matching. You can change this any time in Settings → Privacy, on doppinow.com.
Even with page checks allowed, details are sent only during a session and only for the tab you are on. Email addresses in these texts are masked before sending, and again on our server. The full text of the page is never sent. Sites on your “Part of my work” and “Distracts me” lists (in your Settings) are always decided on your device. A title or address can still contain personal details, such as a name or an email subject, so the extension only looks at the tab you are actually on.
Outside a session, no page details are sent. The extension only checks in with our server now and then, with its link token, to read your plan (your trial, your subscription, or that it has ended), its limits and your settings, and nothing about your pages. It also sends each finished session, your game progress and your Later list to your account, as described below.
Our server doesn't store these page details. It only keeps counts of how many checks your account made, so it can apply daily limits, and it may remember an answer (not the page details) for about 10 minutes so the same check isn't repeated. These limit counts expire after a day or two and are deleted after that. We also keep a daily count of your account's page checks, which staff can see (see below); these daily counts are kept for about 90 days.
DoppiNow's use of information received from the Chrome extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We don't sell this information, use it for advertising, or use it for anything other than the extension's focus features.
Your account
DoppiNow needs an account: you sign in with Google, on the website or from the extension. That is the only way to sign in, so we never handle a password. Sign-in is handled by DoppiNow's own server together with Google; the website doesn't load any third-party sign-in code. Your first sign-in starts your free trial, so we also keep when it started.
- From Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture. We use them to create your account, greet you on the dashboard, and (your email address) for payments, see Payments.
- Your extension is linked to your account when you sign in from it. Each finished session is then sent to your account: when it started and ended, the day, minutes focused, away and on break, comebacks, the minutes reclaimed after a distraction (your Comeback ring), XP, whether you finished the planned time, your world, and the goal text. You can turn the goal text off in Settings. We also store your level, total XP and streak, and the game details the home page shows: which badges you earned and when, today's quests, reward boxes, life rings and lifetime totals.
- Your settings (reminders, your site lists, breaks, your world, rest days and what is shared) are kept in your account, so the extension, the website and a future DoppiNow app all follow the same ones.
- Your Later list: the title and address of each tab you park, each thought you park, and the goal you were working on at the time, so you can find them on the website. The tasks you split on the website are kept with their steps and ticks, until you delete them.
- Linking gives the extension a random token that can only add sessions, your game progress and your Later list to your account, read your plan and settings, and ask for page checks under your account's limits. The extension never holds your Google sign-in. Unlinking deletes the token.
We use this data to run DoppiNow for you: your account, your plan and your home page. That's it. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't share it except with the service providers below, who process it for us.
Payments (Paddle)
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Paddle (Paddle.com), our reseller and merchant of record. When you subscribe, you pay Paddle in Paddle's own checkout window. DoppiNow never sees or stores your card number.
- What Paddle receives from us: your account's email address and its DoppiNow account number, so the payment lands on the right account.
- What Paddle collects itself: your payment details and the address and tax details it needs for taxes and invoices, under Paddle's privacy policy.
- What we keep from Paddle: the reference numbers of your Paddle customer and subscription, your plan (monthly or yearly), its status, and when the current period ends or whether it's cancelled. We use them only to know whether your account is subscribed.
We keep this subscription record while you have an account. Paddle keeps its own payment and invoice records for as long as the law requires.
DoppiNow staff can see account details (name, email, plan, usage counts) to provide support, never your goals or the pages you visit.
The free tools
The timers and the focus style quiz run entirely in your browser and send nothing. The task splitter is the exception: when you press Split it, the task you typed (up to 120 characters) goes over an encrypted connection to DoppiNow's server, which removes email addresses and long numbers and then asks an AI service to write the steps. The task isn't stored, logged or linked to you or an account. The finished steps may be kept for up to an hour under a scrambled key, so the same task gets the same steps without asking again, and requests are counted per network address in scrambled form to apply limits (the counts are deleted after a day or two). Without a connection, the splitter makes simpler steps on your device. On the free tool page, your list itself stays in your browser; on your home page it is saved to your account (see above).
Service providers
- Supabase only hosts our database. Sign-in and everything else run on DoppiNow's own server.
- Google provides sign-in: you sign in on Google's own page, and Google tells our server your name, email address and profile picture.
- A classification service receives the page details listed above from our server during focus sessions.
- An AI service writes the task splitter's steps: it receives the task you typed, with email addresses and long numbers removed, from our server.
- Paddle sells and processes subscriptions as our merchant of record (see Payments). Its checkout loads only on your plan page.
The website's fonts are served from our own site, so loading a page doesn't contact Google.
Cookies and local storage
The website uses no advertising or tracking cookies. When you sign in, our server sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days (plus a short-lived one during sign-in itself). Signing out or deleting your account removes it. Your browser's local storage remembers small preferences: calm mode, the reading ruler, your chart range, your world theme, and that you've signed in, so the menu can show your home page. It also keeps the free task splitter's list. On your plan page only, Paddle's checkout may store what it needs to run the checkout, under Paddle's privacy policy.
Your choices and rights
- Unlink any linked browser on your Plan and account page, or sign out in the extension. That browser then stops sending sessions; DoppiNow needs to be linked again before it can start new sessions there.
- Reset your game progress in Settings → Privacy. It clears your XP, level, badges, reward boxes, streak and streak savers, quests and the daily focus minutes behind the Progress page and the Comeback ring. It keeps your settings, site lists, sessions, notes, recent goals and Later list. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.
- Delete your account yourself on the Plan and account page. It permanently deletes your profile, sessions, settings, Later list, task splits, extension links and subscription record, and signs you out everywhere. If you have a subscription, it's cancelled at Paddle first, right away.
- Get a copy or correct your account data (or ask us to delete it) by emailing hello@doppinow.com.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you have rights to access, correct, delete and port your data, and to object to or restrict processing. We process account data to provide the service you signed up for (your account, your plan and your home page), and we keep it until you delete your account.
Children
DoppiNow isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also show a note on the dashboard.
