Privacy & control Β· DoppiNow feature

Privacy by design

Privacy by design is how DoppiNow keeps your data small and local. Settings, XP and focus stats live in your browser; your DoppiNow account gets only a summary of each finished session for your dashboard, never the pages you visited. Only if you allow smarter page checks, and only during a session, a few details about the tab you're on may be sent for the goal check, and the full text of a page never is.

How it works

  1. It stays in your browser

Settings, XP, streak, notes, goals and the Later list stay in this browser.

  2. Only if you allow it

Only after you choose β€œAllow page checks”, only during a session, only the tab you’re on, and only when your device hasn’t already decided it.

  3. A few capped details

Your goal, the site and page type, address, title, main heading, search terms, a channel name and a short description. Never the full text.

  4. Emails masked

Email addresses are masked before anything leaves the browser.

All the details
  1. What stays in this browser: settings, XP, level, streak, badges, quests, your last 30 sessions, 60 days of daily minutes, notes, recent goals and the Later list. DoppiNow's own script on web pages never reads it, and DoppiNow asks Chrome to keep it closed to the pages you visit.

  2. Details are sent only after you choose "Allow page checks" (the popup and the welcome page ask once; Settings β†’ Privacy has the same switch), only during a session, only for the active tab, and only when the page isn't already decided on your device. Browser pages, your marks, your site lists and the short-video rule are all decided on the device. What may be sent:

    • your goal
    • the site name and page type
    • the address without its query or "#" part (a YouTube video keeps its id)
    • the title and the main heading
    • your search terms on search pages
    • a channel name and short description, when present
  3. Each field is capped: goal 200 characters, address 200, title 200, heading 160, search terms 200, description 300, channel 80. Email addresses are masked as "[email]" before anything is sent, and again on DoppiNow's server. Answers are remembered for the browser session, so the same page isn't checked twice.

  4. Addresses DoppiNow saves have sign-in details removed first, such as a user name, a password or a sign-in code after the "#".

  5. Settings β†’ Privacy says in a line what may be sent, and the privacy page lists it in full. The website uses no advertising or tracking cookies and no analytics.

  6. Reset progress in Settings β†’ Privacy takes two presses: "Reset progress", then "Yes, start over". It clears XP, level, badges, boxes, your streak and streak savers, quests, and the daily focus minutes behind the popup's Comeback ring. It keeps your settings, site lists, sessions, notes, recent goals and the Later list.

Privacy by design: common questions

Does DoppiNow read my emails or documents?

It never sends the full text of a page. A title or address can still hold personal details like an email subject, so only the tab you're actually on is checked, and email addresses are masked.

Is anything sent when no session is running?

No page details are. Outside a session, the extension only checks in with DoppiNow's server now and then, with its link token, to read your plan (and nothing about your pages), and it sends each finished session to your account.

Can I use DoppiNow without sending any page details?

Yes. Choose "Keep it on this device" when DoppiNow asks, or turn off Settings β†’ Privacy β†’ "Smarter page checks". Your marks, site lists, the short-video rule and word matching still decide, a little less accurately. Until you answer, that's how it works anyway.

How do I delete my data?

Removing the extension deletes everything it stored in the browser, and Reset progress clears the game. To delete your account data, delete your account at the bottom of the dashboard (this also cancels a subscription right away), or ask by email, as the privacy page explains.
