Extension link and sync

Extension link and sync is how finished DoppiNow sessions reach your web dashboard. The website gives the extension a random link token. It lets the extension add sessions to your account, but it can't read your sessions back. The extension never gets your Google sign-in, and you can unlink at any time.

How it works

  1. Link once

Signing in from the extension links it on its own. The dashboard’s “Link extension” button works too.

  2. Sessions sync

Each finished session sends times, minutes, comebacks, XP and, if you allow it, the goal. Never the pages you visited.

  3. Offline is fine

Up to 300 sessions wait and sync later.

  4. Sign out any time

Settings → Account → Sign out, pressed twice, or Unlink on the dashboard.

All the details
  1. Sign in with Google from the extension: after sign-in, doppinow.com's Connect page makes a private link for this browser and hands it to the extension right there, on its own. (Already signed in? The dashboard's "Link extension" button does the same.) The extension never gets your Google sign-in. The dashboard lists your linked browsers (the newest 10) with an Unlink button for each.

  2. When you link, your recent log of up to 30 sessions comes along, so the charts aren't empty. Only the latest of them brings its XP. If that first sync doesn't finish, the link still holds and the dashboard tells you.

  3. For each finished session, it sends:

    • the start and end time, the day, and the planned length of a timed session
    • minutes focused, away, on a break and on neutral pages
    • comebacks, XP and whether the session completed
    • the minutes reclaimed after a distraction, for your Comeback ring (part of the focus minutes)
    • your world
    • the goal text (goals are up to 200 characters), unless you turned it off

Your level, total XP, current and best streak go along too, with your game for the home page (badges, today's quests, boxes, streak savers, totals) and your Later list. It never sends the pages you visited, only the ones you parked yourself.

  4. If you're offline, up to 300 sessions wait in a queue and go with the next sync, in batches of 50.

  5. Plan and account, on your home page, lists your linked browsers and when each last synced. "Unlink" on this browser signs the extension out at once and deletes the token on the server; the progress stays in the browser, and the next session asks to sign in again. If the server can't be reached (offline), the old token waits in this browser and is sent again on the next start-up and after the next call that gets through, until the server confirms it (or says it's already gone); it's let go after 30 days. Linking again, to this or another account, unlinks the old token the same way. If the link is removed from another browser's dashboard, or dropped because you linked more than 10 browsers, this browser is signed out the next time it reaches DoppiNow's server ("You were signed out. Sign in again to keep going. Your progress is saved."). The popup then shows "Sign in with Google" right away.

  6. The server checks every value and caps any that are out of range.

Extension link and sync: common questions

Can the website see my browsing?

No. Only summaries of finished sessions are sent, never the pages you visited.

Can I keep my goals private?

Yes. Turn off "Include goal text" to send only times and minutes.

How do I unlink?

Unlink next to that browser under Plan and account on your home page. Syncing stops and the link stops working; the next session asks you to sign in again.
