Game worlds

Game worlds are five themes for DoppiNow: Sea, Space & Engineering, Art Studio, Business, and Academic. Each one changes the game's words, ranks, vehicles, badges, colors and scene. The rules are identical in every world, and switching never touches your progress.

How it works

  1. Sea

Your ship sails as you focus. Pass the buoys, reach the harbor.

  2. Space & Engineering

Lift off from a launch pad, fly through boost rings and reach the Moon.

  3. Art Studio

Your canvas fills with color as you focus, until the masterpiece is framed.

  4. Business

From garage to launch: fly up a growth curve, from paper plane to unicorn. Hit milestones, raise funding rounds.

  5. Academic

Ride across campus from the dorm to the great library, from skateboard to campus tram, one chapter at a time.

  6. Switch any time

Settings โ†’ Game โ†’ Your world. Your XP, level, streak, boxes and badges stay.

All the details
  1. Pick a world on the welcome page or in Settings โ†’ Your world on your home page, where each card shows the rank you would hold there. The default is Sea.

  2. A world sets the start button, drift and finish words, the ranks and vehicles, the names for checkpoints, boxes and streak savers, the badge and quest names, the accent color, the log's name and the scene.

  3. โ›ต Sea: "Your ship sails as you focus. Pass the buoys, reach the harbor."

    • Ranks: Deckhand โ†’ Fleet Admiral. Vehicles: rowboat, sloop, brig, galleon.
    • Buoys, treasure chests and life rings.
    • Drifting rolls in fog, and a break turns the sky to dusk.
    • Home is a harbor with a lighthouse, and the finish is an island ("Harbor reached! โš“").
  4. ๐Ÿš€ Space & Engineering ("Lift-off"): progress is altitude.

    • You climb from a pastel city's launch pad, through sky lanes of bubble-dome flying cars, into space and up to the Moon ("Moon reached! ๐ŸŒ•").
    • Ranks: Intern โ†’ Galactic Commander. Vehicles: hover car, flying car, shuttle, rocket.
    • Boost rings to fly through, cargo pods and spare fuel.
    • Drifting means "Off course": the craft tilts, sputters and blinks a warning under an orange haze.
    • The trail is a white contrail on course and an orange detour where you drifted. On a break, the craft rests on a floating dock.
  5. ๐ŸŽจ Art Studio: "Your canvas fills with color as you focus."

    • Ranks: Apprentice โ†’ Renaissance Master. Tools: pencil, brush, airbrush, golden brush.
    • Layers that bloom into flowers, paint boxes and wildcards.
    • Drifting fades the colors and makes paint run.
    • Home is the easel, and the finish is a framed masterpiece ("Masterpiece done! ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ").
  6. ๐Ÿ’ผ Business (a startup, from garage to launch): "Build your startup as you focus. Hit the milestones, raise rounds, launch."

    • Ranks: Dreamer โ†’ Side Hustler โ†’ Builder โ†’ Founder โ†’ Seed Founder โ†’ Series A Founder โ†’ Scale-up CEO โ†’ Unicorn Founder โ†’ Startup Legend.
    • Your startup grows with your rank: paper plane, drone, jetpack, unicorn ("Your startup leveled up: now a unicorn").
    • Milestones, funding rounds ("You raised a round!") and pivots as streak savers ("Your pivot saved the streak.").
    • Start building, stay "Shipping"; drifting is "Lost in the noise", and coming back is "Back to building!". At x5 it's "Hypergrowth!".
    • The finish is "Launched! ๐ŸŽ‰" under "SPRINT SHIPPED"; the log is the Build log.
    • The scene is a whiteboard: you take off from a startup garage and fly a hockey-stick growth curve to a launch flag. Milestones are map pins on the curve, a funding round is a golden briefcase, drifting brings a gray haze with chat bubbles and red notification badges, a break is late night at a desk with a laptop and coffee, and the finish turns the flag gold with confetti and fireworks.
  7. ๐ŸŽ“ Academic: "Your ride rolls across campus as you focus. Finish the chapters, reach the library."

    • Ranks: Freshman โ†’ Professor. Vehicles: skateboard, bicycle, moped, campus tram.
    • Chapter signposts with lanterns, glowing discovery crates and deadline extensions.
    • A garden path across a green campus quad, past trees and a square brick clock tower, runs from the dorm to the great library, a brick hall with a columned porch and crimson banners.
    • Drifting ("Mind wandered") rolls in a fog full of doodles, and a break is an evening on a bench.
    • At the finish, graduation caps fly ("Top of the class! ๐ŸŽ“").
  8. Switching worlds keeps your XP, level, streak, boxes and badges. Only the setting changes.

  9. On doppinow.com you can try each world's colors: pick a world in the home page preview, with "Use this theme" on a world card, with the footer's Theme buttons or with "Use as site theme" on a quiz result. The whole site takes that world's colors, in light and dark, keeps them on every page and in other open tabs, and remembers them on this device. It doesn't change the world you play in the extension.

Why it helps with ADHD

In a meta-analysis of gamified learning, "game fiction" (a story or world) strengthened the effect on behaviour. That meta-analysis wasn't about ADHD (Sailer & Homner 2020).

No study has tested DoppiNow itself. DoppiNow is a productivity tool, not a treatment for ADHD.
