Checkpoints and reward boxes

Checkpoints and reward boxes are DoppiNow's surprise rewards. Every 5 minutes of focus passes a checkpoint, and each one may hide a box that you open in the popup. Boxes come in four rarities, from common (20–40 XP) to legendary (400 XP plus a streak saver).

How it works

  1. Every 5 minutes

Each 5 focused minutes passes a checkpoint: a buoy, a boost ring, a layer, a milestone pin or a chapter signpost.

  2. A chance of a box

35% at x1, plus 5% per combo tier, up to 55% at x5.

  3. Four rarities

Common 20–40 XP, rare 60–100, epic 150–220, legendary 400 XP plus a streak saver.

  4. Open when you like

Boxes wait in the popup until you tap them. They never expire, and there’s nothing to buy.

All the details
  1. Every 5 focused minutes in a session is a checkpoint: a buoy at sea, a boost ring in space, a layer in the art studio, a milestone for the startup, or a chapter signpost on campus.

  2. Each checkpoint has a 35% chance of a box at x1, plus 5% for each combo tier: 40%, 45%, 50% and 55% at x5.

  3. The very first checkpoint of your very first session always has a box, and the first box you ever open is always rare.

  4. Rarities:

    • common: 70% of boxes, 20–40 XP
    • rare: 22%, 60–100 XP
    • epic: 7%, 150–220 XP
    • legendary: 1%, 400 XP plus a streak saver if you hold fewer than 2
  5. Boxes wait unopened, with a count on the popup's top bar, until you tap them. Opening one plays the lid, rarity-colored rays and an XP count-up, with "Collect" and "Open another (N)".

  6. Daily quests add a bonus box when you claim all three (see Daily quests).

Why it helps with ADHD

Visible checkpoints draw on the goal-gradient effect (Kivetz et al. 2006) and on progress monitoring. In 138 studies, tracking progress improved goal attainment (d = 0.40) (Harkin et al. 2016). Our research review found no ADHD evidence for random reward boxes specifically, so we make no claims for the boxes themselves.

DoppiNow is a productivity tool, not a treatment for ADHD.
